I have noticed that the steering wheel seems to kind of hop around in my hand while going down the highway at most all speeds above 40mph. The tires were rotated and rebalanced about a month ago and still have about 80%tread left.
Today with the hood up, I noticed that the front pass. side tire appeared to be slightly turned to the right while the driver side was perfectly straight. After more looking and making sure the driverside was straight, the pass side front is still not straight. What would be the cause of this????
I'm sure this is contributing to the shaky wheel and def. needs attention.
I had the same problem with mine but not as severe. Also check the wear pattern on the tires to see if they are wearing evenly. I would make sure whoever does the alignment knows how to work on vettes. I had an alignment done on my 4x4 at Midas and it was worse than when I brought it in. Good luck...........
Before you get an alignment, raise the front end up and check for worn tie rods and ball joints. The right wheel could be out because of a worn steering component. good luck
Having the car only done a month ago you should be able to take it back to where the work was done and take a technition for a ride. If they put it on the alignment machine, get a printout of what the specs are before they adjust anything. Get another printout of what the specs are when they finish. The upper control arm bolts could of not been tightened properly and you could of lost some shims. Let them check it out. If they value your business and are a reputable shop, they will make it right.
The Corvette requires a four wheel alignment. The rears are aligned first to provide a base for the fronts. If your tech suggests he can align just the front wheels, I recommend that you find another tech that has aligned Corvettes.
Many Corvette dealers do not have alignment equipment. If a dealer near you does not have this equipment, you might ask where they send alignment jobs.
