I just got this car and do not have the service manual yet, I would like to change the fluid and filter in the trans. dealer wants $185 to do it, said they had to hook it up to a machine to do it. Can't I just drain it and put a new
filter and fluid in it. Also would like to service the rear end what fluid do I use is it the same as a 6spd rear. Thanks for any info. Car is a 94 auto.

Just draining the pan still leaves a lot of fluid in the converter.I would have it flushed and also change the filter. When you change the differental lube be sure to put the GM additive in. :steering:
