I'm thinking about tinting my windows on my 85 using 20% film on the back and 35% film on the sides. Since the electric eye that controls the brighter/darker control of the instrument cluster is on the front of the dash, will the obviously much darker interior cause the automatic brighter/darker cotrol to not know how to make the dash cluster look, and make it go haywire? Thanks.
I did an 85 Z28 once using strips so it would contour to the curves. Royal PITB
mine has one strip down the middle and two on the sides. it's seamed on the defogger lines. you have to really look close to see that it has three pieces.
Well, if the tint makes it dark enough inside the car to cause the sensor to bring up the dash lights, you will be glad it did. In the dark you need more light. Right?
It's raining out so I'm bored and thinking, would tint be able to adhere to the plastic window on the convertable top. If so you would think it would peel or somethin when the top is folded down right? If anyone has tried this that'd be cool to hear how it worked out.
Re: Question about window tinting (_freakmonkeydogboy_)
How did you guys do the rear hatch window? I did an 85 Z28 once using strips so it would contour to the curves. Royal PITBMine is a single piece done by a shop here in town :D
_freakmonkeydogboy_ Where did you get it done and for how much?
Re: Question about window tinting (Dudeurgettnavette)
Alta-Mere here in Norman, but I'm sure the same deal goes for all of them in the area - $160 5% limo all around, life-time warranty, they even re-did the back once because the guy who did it didn't like it
Re: Question about window tinting (_freakmonkeydogboy_)
5%, you lucky :cuss ( :) )
In MA they have a 35% limit.
My truck has the 35% on it and with the factory tint, 5-10%, puts it just over the legal limit. I have to find an inspection station that doesn't mind. I usually go 13 months between insprctions until I get into summer so that I can roll the windows down and pray :blueangel:
I have allways done my own tinting but that rear window ??
I got one shade lighter than limo all the way arround. I like the one tone tint. Looks bitchin on my black LT4. On the rear hatch i have a one piece tint, no bubles or strips. Some shops know how to to it some don`t. Look for a shop that would do a one piece in the back. As far as the law is concerned i roll my windows down when i see a cop passing me...most of them don`t drive a Vette and might get jeaulaous...
First, go easy on me.
Since this is up here, can one have the front window tinted a tad?
Basically I wanna copy a ZR1 windsheild. I have a black on black coupe which is an oven in the summer.
Can this be done. or do they have to pull the windsheild out. Is this something I would regret?
