I have the camber brace from RD racing already installed. My question is, did you use the new bolt they supplied or your old one??? I have the old one in now and it is NOTdown completely flush w/ the top of the bolt when tightened.
It looks like i have maybe 3 or 4 good threads on the bolt and thats it. Need a suggestion here please.
Thanks,
matt
Call Dave at R-D racing, he'll be happy to answer any question. I would suggest using the new one since its longer an will give you more threads.
Because of the tight clearance on the DS control arm bolt, I could not get the new bolt to install (too long). Also, the new bolts do not have the locking flange as on the original and I thought it might allow the brace to shift over time. I reused the original bolts and left off the washer on both sides. That gave enough room to show some threads and acheive the correct torque. I haven't had any issues so far (two weeks). Does anybody forsee this as a problem?
Did you always supply bolts with your C Brace. I just don't remember that when you sent me my brace.
Only the real early models did not come with extra bolts. They are only needed if your alignment specs require a large amount of shims, which limits how much of the factory bolt is useable. If you can't see threads sticking out of the nut, you need the longer bolts. The hex head of the bolt will dig into the Camber-brace bracket and prevent it from slipping.
Re: 89 vert-camber brace????'s-which bolt?? (Steel Blue 91)
Bill,
The longer bolt will go in if you start it through the hole at an angle with the slot. I would recommend using the taper washers to keep the control arms centered on the bolts.
Dave ,thanks for responding. I will try to remove shims to get more threads
as it was pretty tight or use the longer bolts.I'll let everyone know what i come up with as soon as my NEW GM weatherstripping is finished up!!!
Thanks,
Matt
