Default Venting Opti Question.

I have a brand new '92 Opti, but the tech tips section on the venting process says I need a newer style cap and rotor. DUDE, it's like between $120 and $200 just for the rebuild kit on top of what I've spent for the whole Opti unit. Is this absolutely necessary? I would guess the only reason I need the newer style cap is for the vacuum return fitting. Can't I just thread one into the older style cap somewhere? I'd rather save my $200 if it's not absolutely necessary.

Contact http://www.corvetteclinicinc.com and look under C-4 solutions. I just did his vent installation on my new opti and it looks good, haven't run it yet, but it looks good to me.

I finally did it! What a pain though. Finding the correct vacuum fittings wasn't easy. I followed the Vette clinic's way from the posting on the vette fever website. Much better than the C4 tech tips recommendation. Cheaper too. I also had a helluva time finding a deepwell T15 reverse torx bit. I went to sears and a couple dealerships to find a snapon guy. Couldn't find one. Sears had a reverse bit but it wasn't deep well. I ended up buying the regular bit and grinding off the tapered edge to it would fit in the cap. It worked! Only to my dismay did I take the cap off to find 2 T5 torx screws holding the rotor on. AAAAAAAAAaaaaargh!!!! Back to Sears!

Thanks for all you help guys.
