Default Fuel line accumulator question

This may be a dumb question, but here goes... On my '93, I have an accumulator located on the fuel line closest to the firewall (going to fuel rail of course). It looks like a fuel pressure regulator - is it? My service manual says nothing about this fuel line component. :mad

I'm planning on going to a LT4 top end. Is it safe to remove this in line accumulator and utilize the one on the new fuel rail (LT4 style) or should I leave it in line as it is? Thanks!

The accumulator is supposed to absorbe some of the fuel line vibrations / pulsing.

Hmmm... so do you think that I can just leave this inline when I install the LT4 fuel rail?

I would like to see what it looks like and where it's at because I had one on mine but it looked homemade and I removed it. At least I think that's what it was for. It should be on the return line.

In this pic, it's the silver saucer-looking part all the way at the left of the picture frame (almost off the picture, lined up with end of the valve cover):

Are you going to do a complete top end upgrade? Whose doing it and how much? I'm looking at More Preformance in Charlotte, NC. They have a real nice package for around $3800 plus a $1000 to do it. Just for comparison look them up: http://www.morepreformance.com 425 hp after it's done!

Hey there Strick. Yes, I'm doing a complete top end. Here's the run down:

- New LT4 Intake (LT4 fuel rails, SVO 30lb/hr injectors, AFPR)
- New LT4 Heads (both intake and heads getting stage III job by CNC Heads)
- CC Custom cam
- CC hardened pushrods
- CC lifters
- CC Pro-mag roller rockers (1.6)
- AS&M Throttle body (haven't decided between 52/54/58mm yet)
- Meziere electric H20 pump
- TPiS long tubes
- Dr Gas X-Pipe
- Moroso kick-out oil pan
- ARP fasteners throughout
- FelPro gaskets throughout

The cost for just the heads and intake (plus getting them ported) alone is going to be $3,600.00. If I wasn't so **** about wanting the LT4 top end, it would be considerably less.

I'm going to do all the work myself. :)

I do not have one on my '94. I could not imagine it "has" to be there.

I would conclude '94 was the first year not to have it as cprgmr's '93 has it and my '94 does not.
