yes as long as you have the right ring & pinion
Dont think there is much limit to D44 rears, but the lowest D36 rear ive seen is 3.73.

Welcome to our forum. Nice to have another SC guy around. I can't wait for my son to finish his course at school on differentials. Then I'll be able to speak with authority on the subject, cause I don't know cr@p about rear ends, except I want 410s in mine. :yesnod:

not to take over the main question that glumaker made but do you need spechial parts for a dana 36 or 44 gear swap or it is like swaping gears in a regular rear end !!!??? :confused:
