MSD Problem
I just installed an MSD coil, cap and wires and what a difference. I dont know
why I waited so long to this mod but when I drove the car on the highway at WOT I noticed the RPMs kicking back.Is this my knock sensor pulling timing or just my rpm gage going wacky?Cant feel any power loss when this happens

Re: MSD Problem (91superram)
I had the same problem in my l98 when i went to all accell stuff. I believe it's caused by the tach filter. I'm sure others will chime in...

Re: MSD Problem (severe-1)
MSD claims your supposed to by-pass the tach filter. I didnt touch it, and it works fine. My tach is VERY accurate. Try by-passing the tach filter like they tell you to

Re: MSD Problem (91superram)
That's how mine acted when I installed my 6AL. I removed the tach filter and no problems now.

Put your car on a dyno and you'll sing a different tune.

When you say MSD coil...... do you mean just a new ignition coil or did you go with a full MSD box?

Re: MSD Problem (91superram)
You should not need to be bypassing the tach filter. That is only if you are using an MSD box.

Re: MSD Problem (91superram)
Correct, you should only need to remove the tach filter with the ignition control unit not just the coil.
