head bolts

do I need to use some kind of sealent on the head bolts or is it just the intake bolts that need to be seald?

yes, you need to put sealant on the head bolt threads.

how much of the bolt must you cover with sealent? Should the threads be enough?

Use somethimg like Permatex #2 or a non hardening sealer. Coat the threads.
BTW make sure you clean all the junk off the bolts.

The headbolts thread into the block's water passages. With out thread sealant, when the cooling system is under pressure, coolant will leak around the threads and into the combustion chamber and oil system. Not good.

There are a number sealants to use. I got mine from a local auto parts shop (NAPA). Any non-hardening pipe sealant with Teflon will work. You need to make sure you don't throw off the headbolt torque with the wrong type of sealant. It should be with Teflon.
