Thanks my friend! I have a tiny leak from the vette shop changing my intake gasket last summer. I am going to try and retorque it to see if it stops the leak before I take it apart myself and do it again. The "wonderful" mechanis there, didnt let it sit after they put the new one on, so the permatex didnt set properly ... and Im in NY now, had it done in PA. :cuss  ahh well, live and learn...hehe Thanks again!

I let mine sit for a total of about 2 hours (enough time to get everything back together again) and I haven't had any leaks since. Maybe they didn't use the correct bead size? IMHO, I think it's a complete misnomer that you have to let the RTV "bead" for several hours before firing it up...

Re: INTAKE QUESTION (cprgmr)
More than a couple of hours is necessary to allow a good bond to develop. Otherwise, the hot oil will gets between the silicone and the metal, resulting in a leak. I know this from first hand.
Try retorquing the bolts first. It only takes a few minutes and may solve the problem.
When I redid my intake gasket after the dealer's repair leaked, I put a good 3/8 inch bead on the front and rear of the block and laid the intake down and torqued the bolts to about 5 ft lbs. I let it sit for 24 hours to allow the RTV to cure, then torqued to 35 ft lbs. Then drove it a week then checked the torque. A couple of bolts needed a slight turn. Never leaked again.
