Just purchased my first corvette a couple months ago, a '93 Ruby, and im looking to do some mods to it. Just wondering if anyone in the Toronto area has some suggestions for some respectable shops.
I take it the novelty and love for this truely beautiful machine never wears off. My heart still pounds everytime i turn the key.
Check out Agostino Racing. They're in Pickering, pretty close to Toronto. I've been there, didn't spend too much time though. I was in the dyno room. The second I got there , my jaw dropped at all the beautiful cars there getting work done on them and such.
Agostino, big $$$! Plus my buddies mentioned that Nick may have left the company and it's going down hill (maybe a rumour).
If you're looking for a shop that does repairs and maintenance check out Redline (Firestone shop) at the corner of Sheppard and McCowan (actually on Sheppard east of McCowan). The owner is a Vette fan and owns a couple Z06's. They're great and know there stuff and they always have many Vettes waiting to get in. Plus there rates are reasonable. (I.e. cost me $400 labour to install my Mcleod clutch and that included the custom work and my hurst shifter)
For performance work, engine rebuilds also check out Andy @ Straightline racing, but prepare to pay.
I can strongly recommend Dino & Bill at Grand Sport Motors in Thornhill (905-889-5053). They installed the ZZ4 in my Vette, and I don't let anybody else touch my car now.
I second the recommendation to Firestone (Redline Automotive). Tel # 416-292-1431 ask for Eric Latino ... located at 4736 Sheppard Ave E. ... I had work done there last Nov. Very reasonable rate and they specialize in corvettes.
I found out about Redline through this forum ... great place and a straight shooter.
There's a shop that's probably not far from you in Mississauga called Stingray Auto Tech. Brian Cassells is the guy out there to talk to. Extremely knowledgable and they work on every generation of the car.
A little word of advice for ANY service work to your new car (and this applies to any shop you choose to go to): try and schedule all the labour-intensive work that your car may need (ie. clutch replacements, intake gasket replacements, cylinder head replacement/rebuilds, cam swaps, etc...) for the late fall or very early winter months. You'll find out soon enough that most Corvette shops throughout the GTA will be packed to capacity with work during the late spring and all throughout the summer months.
But welcome to the club. And don't forget to wave. :seeya
