The Silver Girl just came out of storage and I usually change the oil right away. This year, though, I have a question. Last year I had a number of mods done to the car and it spent (way too) much time at the tuner's. I actually only put 200 or 300 miles on it. The conventional wisdom says 3,000 or 3 months. Does this apply to synthetic oil as well? I've only got 1/10 of the mileage and I was thinking that the synthetic would not break down. Opinions?
i use mobil 1 10w30 with 1 qt lucas oil and i have run it up to 8k miles and when i changed the oil it still had a good feel to it. i could have gone more but i didn't wanna push my luck :D
There is much debating over this issue.. You hear 6000, and 3000..
After doing many an oil change, I have found that for my car, at 3000 miles, Mobile 1, looks brand new.. At 6000, it is looking quite used.. that being said- where do I change it? Every 4500 miles.. But for a car that has been sitting over the winter, I wouldnt push my luck.. Change it after 3000 miles, and be happy.. :)

its an oil addative that you can get at O'reily for 5 bucks a quart. its really good stuff and like i said after 8k miles the oil still had a nice feel to it and lucas also prevents hards starts and other little nice things it does.
I have always been skeptical of oil addatives but after trying it, i would have it any other way. 4 qrts mobil 1, 1 qrt lucas does wonders
I have also used it in my old mustang and also in my 91 dodge Spirit R/T.
Just changed my oil today and after playing with that Lucas display for months when I go to the parts store I saw your post and tried it man that stuff poured like honey and it freaked me out when i first started the car and the oil pressure was through the roof I thought that i had overfilled it or something but as soon as the motor ran a little and warmed up the pressure leveled out I did notice the oil pressure is more stable now than before and I just read that Lucas link page and agree it does raise your oil press. :yesnod:  :seeya
