Is there anyway to make the BM mega shifter fit in our early C4's? They make a "console" model for the 84-92 F bodies. (I hate those things...) I'm almost temped to try it. One guy at summit tech told me, yea it'll work. Another said no. So... any ideas???
yes,i've called b&m directly a while back aswell wondering the same.they told me its a go because all the components work and you do have enough clearance for it underneith. iwas going to ask why they dont' list C4 under that along with those F body cars.i have a mega shifter in my old Pontiac for drag racing but in a vette,im thinking unless thats ur purpose then why make it harder for urself to drive that beautiful car....just opionion, mind changed alittle, maybe i'll change again
so the console F body part # is a go. GREAT!!! thanks dude! and yes ..... drag racing is my deal... the vette has DAD racing seats, RCI 5 points, a custom made harness bar (that i welded and painted and installed). I'm going to order my shifter soon. this is good news!!
-Jason 89Coupe: custom chip, stg2 BM shift kit, trans cooler, 160thermo, manual fan switch, all the free mods possible, MSD 6AL, Heated O2 sensor, Hedman headers, true dual w/Hpipe and Flows.....etc.
you missed something. the megashifter is a "style" of shifter for Auto's by BM. you can get "console" or floor mounted style. then you pick your trans application....usually a cable or some crap. but the mega shifter works on the 84-92 F Bodies.... 200r and 700r4's. so the console F body mega shifter will i guess now fit in our early C4's. BADA BING!
I had a megashifter in my Camaro. I hated it. If I didn't swap to a 5-speed, I would have pitched that POS and put the stock shifter back in. The shifter itself is great, but the rest of the assembly is a poorly engineered POS. If it used the stock cable instead of the junk B&M cable that requires you to put a new bracket on the trans linkage, and if it came with a plug-in harness adapter for the wiring, and came with the necessary relays, and came with a mechanism that didn't interfere with my console, and bolted into the stock mounting holes, I *might* have liked it.
