Default adjust rockers.

what the hell im i doing wrong?

I adjusted the rockers like the chilton manual says.

But some rockers seems very loose compared to others?
Should I wait so the lifter's little spring can push the plunger all the way up ? How did you do?

THanks

I do mine with the engine idleing. I have to remove the alternator to adjust mine if you have to aswell, you need a strong battery, and tape up the alternator connectons. Reinstall any air injection pipes. Cut some cardboard
about 5 inches tall and as long as the head to fit down by the springs, this should keep oil in the head if you don't rev the engine.

With the engine running back off the rocker nut untill you hear/feel the clacking. Then back down untill the clacking just stops. This is zero lash.
I prefer .5 turn down from 0 lash, some people go .25 and some .75 and others go 1 full turn.

Hope this helps.. :seeya :flag

I start by backing off the lifters on #1, work my way down that bank and finish up on the right bank.

By that time the #1 lifter pistions have easily come full up and it's much easier to turn the carnkshaft manually with pressure off all the lifters; then I start the adjustment.
