I'm replacing my fuel pump and already have the old one out.Now I can't find the black rubber that fit over the top of the pump.Chevy says that part no longer available.Do I need that specific piece or can I put somrthing else in its place. It seems it was to stop the pump from moving around against the pickup tube?
Don't know for sure, but I suspect you do. I've got one from my old pump, so if you can't find a replacement, let me know, and I'll shoot it off in the mail to you...... :seeya
WElcoem to the fourm by the way.. Lots of good info can be found here..
Now fo ryour pupm issue. My friend replaced his fuel pump with a GM repalcement adn that came with the black rubber piece yoau re talking about.. They still make those. I replaced mine last year (I have an '85 also) and it came with that... I'd check the place you got it from as they are BS-ing you about GM not making it anymore..
Great forum. Thanks for the help.I,ll see if I can find it.It fits over the fuel inlet on the pump. The black rubber wrap I still have. Thanks again everyone!! :)
