This is an "amendment" to a thread I posted about my heads leaking.
I finally got the intake manifold off, and it's definately leaking oil...the heads aren't.
What worries me is this:
This crud was on the torx bolts holding the manifold down....
Anybody ever seen this???
Should I be worried, or will this go away when I re-seal it?
Those were the ones holding the manifold to the heads right? Hit em' with a wire wheel, put some teflon paste on the threads and reinstall. Check em' out 500 miles later.

If you're cheap. Whenever you have rust, the original material is degraded. I wouldn't hesitate to replace one or two manifold bolts.
Nope, it's just some goopy stuff, not rust....I was just wondering what it was if anybody knew. Some of them had a little bit of white stuff....maybe dried and heated coolant?????

You really could've fooled me man - that stuff on the right bolt really looks like rust!
By the way, I've got a photo of the top side on my web page w/out the manifold on it....the bolts were from the middle of the closer side (where it's a little bit dirty) :mad
Just did my 86 and my bolts looked identical to yours. Cleaned right up with the wire wheel, used Perematex #2 before install. Be sure to clean up the bolt holes too so you will get proper torque when reinstalling. It's a fun job, isn't it.
