Please help: My manual doesn't tell timing check procedure nor spec for my '89.
Does a wire need to be disconnected from the distributor? Which wire?
What should the timing be at idle?
Hi, if you look at your distributor there is a 4 wire connector coming from it. On PIN C there is a tan/blk wire follow that wire and you will find another connector, that is the "check timing" connector, disconnect it and the ECM will command base timing.
I am not sure what the base timing spec is for you car but there should be a label on the core support area that should tell you the timing specs. I beleive it will be somewhere around 6 or 8 degrees. But double check and make sure.
Thanks, that's exactly what I needed to know. Somehow the sticker with timing info is gone, but I'll fake it. Friend with a '91 says his is 6 degrees, which sounds fine.
