Loud Squall from starter--Help!!!
89 C4--L98. I have recently put a brand new GM starter on this car. a week or so ago I went to start it and got this real loud SQUALL from the starter.Not once but twice before it started. It doesnt do it every time I go to start it, just once in a while. Please dont tell me the flywheel is cracked :cry :cry . If it is, what would cause that?? Does it hurt to drive it?? Can it leave me stranded somewhere By not starting at all? :confused: :eek: :eek: I know there are some experts out there, let me hear from you!! Thanks In Advance!

1. It could be that the starter is not aligned properly. Check the alignment of the starter motor to the ring gear.
2. Ring gear teeth may be worn or missing.
