I'm looking for a big brake kit for my 1992 LT-1 with stock 17"x9.5" sawblades all around. Is there any hope of putting something mighty up front without requiring new wheels?
Peter at Doug Rippie indicated that the Wilwood kit won't fit under the sawblades. Steve at Ultimate Garage is checking with Mov'it Germany to see if the Mov'it kit will fit.
If anyone has direct experience with kits that are direct bolt-on affairs or that require (let's say) minimal "re-engineering" of the suspension components, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks for your time and expertise.
Best!

The easiest way is to go to the J55 (13" brakes) that are stock on a '95 or later C4.
On my '92, I had to put the five-spoke wheels on for the C5 brakes upgrade. Even then, if I have a flat tire on the front, the compact spare won't fit. I will have to take a good wheel and tire from the rear and put it on the front -- then put the compact spare on the rear.
Thanks, everyone. I appreciate all the advice. I'm keen to put a serious four- or six-piston setup on the car, so I guess I'll put the brake shopping on hold and look into purchasing some new wheels instead.
Any large, lightweight, reasonably-priced recommendations?
Was your Brembo kit a direct bolt-on, or did you have to cut the knuckle? Your wheels are ZR-1 offset 17"x9.5" five spokes, yes? Any regrets, or would you choose the same kit if you had it to do over again?
