Sure most of you saw my vids and ETs from last weekend first track times.
I had to drop my exhaust and will most likely run the car from here on out at the strip without exhaust. I would however like to run the car at E-town and was wondering if any of you ever experiemented with header inserts to help with the noise. How much do you think they would restrict air flow? And do you think they will cut the noise enough?
I am running the three disk inserts myself, but I haven't run the car yet. (still putting it back together) I am interested in hearing you guys' experiences with these.
At e-town you're going to have to pass the decible test aren't you?
yeah that is why I want to know if these things will help or just plug up the exaust like the exhaust I have. I think I will run about .2 quicker in E-Town than here inland. My 350 ran 13.0xx all season long in no matter what king of weather inland last year. The first time at E-Town it ran 12.8 all day. We are at about 1000 Ft elevation at a minumum around here.
So I would be at E-town I would easily be a 10's car, but the exhaust being on there will probably cut my power down to the point where it will just be a break even trade and I will be running about the same time as I am now.
That is gonna drive me nuts if that is the case. Corky is running a good unrestictive exhaust, but it cost him ~1100 beans for it :( I would hate to spend that much for an exhaust sytem.
Need to maybe call Summit Tonight and talk with a tech guy.
God I love to have problems like this instead of the :banghead: one from last year. :D
I know you want to race the challenge...but stick around for the weekend, dump the exhaust and run it on a Sunday!
There's no reason you can't run fast corked up. Lots of us do. The exhaust prices are high....you're this far in though. Taking the exhaust on and off(to me) would get old after a while.
Yeah I know I'm in deep LOL. actually taking it on and off is a snap for me with the lifts etc., But yeah staying for day two is a great IDEA! I think it will still hit the low 11s with the exhaust, my first run was 11.8 at 120 MPH, so the MPH is still there, and that was with the huge bog, I've been thinking, maybe its not hurting me as much we thought. I will definately have to run the exhaust at Etown for the challenges at least the first one. When is the next one?
Yeah I have time to figure something out with a little more track time. I won' be able to make it to the next challenge, since my buddy I wrestled with at PSU is getting married that weekend :nonod:
The next one I will be at, and that would be a good chance to do what jd suggested to see how much it really is hurting me or not, the only problem/flaw with that is I just thought of is the track will warn me about not having a cage installed, if I can't get out there in time to get one installed, and I won' be able to race on Sunday :(
I have to call neverlift and see what they say about getting this thing installed. ASAP.
Just wondering, how does the decible meter work there? What conditions do they test for?
