and then you get a new rear end, cause your old D44 just puked all over the burnout box.

It is a known fact that the halfshafts will twist first before anything else. I talked to someone who works for GM and he told me this. But as we strengthen all the "weak" parts, something will have to give, this is why I chose to keep the tires as my weak link. It's cheaper to replace, just gotta know how to drive it and all is well.

I've NEVER broken a 1350 u-joint... I use them on my 1990 and on our NHRA Super Stock '66 Vette... C4 drive spindles are another story, but I've rectified that as well.

LoL, just ordered a set of Speed Demon billet spindles this afternoon :D. After baby launching with very good results Saturday I want to be able to play harder. Running the Tom's hardened spindles now but they too have their limits as I have found.
Re: Finally,a Bullet Proof U joint?Link Inside (neverendingproject)
GM part # for drive shaft u-joint (1984-1996) is 14067678 which is the first one on the x-ref list for the TCI 961350 joint. However, GM # for halfshaft u-joint is 12522048 and they don't list a x-ref for that one.

Twisted the right side stub axle in half about 2 years ago on my LT4 when the clutch came apart. Nice feeling when the wheel heads off on its own :cry Replaced with stock and have had no problems (with stub axles anyway) since.
Re: Finally,a Bullet Proof U joint?Link Inside (NavyVet)
I was going to buy the Speed Demon pieces...They're absolutely beautiful! But, I cryo-processed and retempered my stockers and haven't broken one since. Even with 9.91 ET's on a ZF car... I'll probably buy a set of the billet ones if these break though. But, for what it cost me to cryo them (since I OWN a cryo business) it was a better deal initially... Those billet ones ARE beautiful though.
