will map lights overload courtsy light timer?
I want to add a rear view mirror with small map lights to my 86, my car has that timer that turns off all the courtsy lights after you close the door,
My question is, will the small lamps in a rear view mirror put too much load on and burn out that timer?
I know these things are so picky sometimes......

I don't know the current the courtesy lamps draw, the lamp specs in the service manual shows only their CP. The map light CP nor the bulb number is shown, so the added current is unknown. However, just on the lamp size I would say it is safe to add a map light to the courtesy timer. The timer has to contend with the increase in current for these lamps when the engine is running and the alternator is providing as much as 16 volts (upper limit), so I believe the map light is well inside the ratings for the timer.

I also tought of after I posted this those little light kits for ricers to shine on their stereos.... they give you two super bright LED's with colored lenes on them, If I'm not mistaken a LED has almost no draw.....I would just get a couple bright LEDs from my local surplus shop and use them, just something about this car seems dark at night when I'm hunting inside for stuff.....the mirrors with map lamps are nice though, I assume they have the little bulb like in dashboards I call them peanut bulbs don't know the real name...
