friend wants to switch his 84 rear-end (3.08 i believe or 3.09) to a 3.73. What problems are there are this conversion and what other areas will be affected by this change ie speedo and stuff like that? Also, where should he look as far as buying it?
All 84 vettes came with dana 36 so you should not have a problem with a 3:73 gear combo !! He could buy new gears and let someone expierinced enough to install them !! as for the speedo correction he can buy the trany speedo gears that are correct for the 3:73 combo .
I'm thinking of doing this very same thing......let me know how yours comes out?????????
Would give alot more low end grunt........
thanks

I talked to Jeg's and they said the had a 3.75 (?) gear set that would fit for 379.00. I'm gonna do more research before I buy. Anyone else have any input?
I change my 3.07 Dana 36 to 3.73.Did the work myself bought a install kit off Randy’s ring and pinion. If you never install one check out the web sit for install instruction. If you take your time you can get through it (don’t rush )make sure you replace all bearing and seals with new ones and you gage everything and double check I mean everything back lash, pinion depth, play in your axel shafts ect.. And remember your break-in period. Email if you have any question.EDMGUY
