I have a 1985 vette with the o/d button on the shifter, the o/d unit was rebuilt a few months ago but it started kicking out of overdrive on the highway after a few minutes and then it started kicking out of overdrive all the time and now it won't work at all. the o/d light comes on whenever I hit the button but nothing happens with the trans. I checked the wires going to the trans and they checked out fine. I changed the tranny fluid and it looked fine. The only other things I can think of is the o/d solenoid in the tranny or the pressure switch in the tranny. I already checked the kickdown cable. Please give me some advice or whatever you guys think could be wrong with it. Thanks.
That was going to be my next shot to replace the pressure switch and selenoid, I have called dealers and transmission places but I can't find these parts anywhere, does anyone know were I could get a new selenoid and pressure switch?
How did you fix your sticking selenoid?
Thanks for the advice.
How about the connectors and wire inside the unit? keep us posted as we may one day be facing this also. I have to think those two switches were shared with other units, at least I hope so.
Well I talked to a few tranny guys who think that the selenoid and switch aren't my problem, they think that its something internal that wasn't put together correctly when it was rebuilt, unfortunately the tranny shop doesn't back up there work so I may tear into it myself.
