Default ?? For nitrous users.........

What is your procedure for storing the bottle when not in use? I am just wondering, since i drive my car every day, i dont know if it will be ok to leave a full bottle outside in my car on a hot day. Wouldn't want the pressure to get too high and the burst disk to blow and waste all my gas. The reason im wondering is because it will be summer down here in Tejas soon, and it gets awfully hot. Also am curious what extra provisions if any i need to mount the bottle in the spare tire area like i have seen other users of this forum do......Very cool for stealth factor btw....
Thanks in advance....

I just leave mine in the garage, in a shaded area when the door is up.

I've never had a problem with the disk bursting. They burst around 3000psi I believe. My car has tinted windows and I don't live in an overly hot state. I didn't have a pressure gauge, so I can't say exactly how high the pressure has gotten, but I've never had one pop.

If you do you won't have a car anymore...It's like setting off a healthy charge of TNT. I store mine in a cool place in the garage.

Its been so long since I even looked at my NX bottle. What side of the valve is the blowoff on?

Sorry Jeb - This is not true, N2O will not explode. The releif valve will break and if you have the proper hook up it goes outside the car, if you do not have a blow down tube it will just go off inside the car. Either way it will not blow up your car. :seeya

OK - I agree if the releif valve does not work and the pressure is too high it will blow - Sorry Jeb.

I have seen pictures in a magazine where the relief valve had failed to blow.
The result was an explosion that ripped the car apart.
The rear end was peeled like a banana, and it even punched a hole through the garage door. (scary stuff) I doubt the insurance companys would pay out on such a thing, no car no money. :cry

Does anybody know what temperature the bottle would have to be for the pressure to build up to the 3000psi blow off point.(presuming the bottle is NOT over filled.

Yeah dude...It doesn't happen...Sure... That's why an friend of mine no longer has his 10 second '84 Vette. He left his bottle in while he and his wife went shopping in the middle of summer; he hears a loud explosion and KNOWS what it was. Come out to the parking lot and the rear of his Vette no longer exists and there is severe damage to three surrounding vehicles... Yeah, nitrous is NOT an explosive, but ANY compressed gas at over 1000 psi IS EXPLOSIVE should they become over pressurized and their only safety mechanism (the blow-off disk) fails... That's what happened to him, the disk failed...It happens, all man-made parts are subject to failure and that one is no exception. Why risk it???
-Jeb (I've been running N2O long enough to have seen just about everything)
PS- Scorp I believe the blow-off is on the right side of the bottle's valve mechanism. I don't have any bottles down here at my shop (they're at the house) or I would look.
