I have a 84 Cross Fire Intake. Is it possible to use this for a dual carb. setup?
Has anyone ever done this? Any help would be appreciated :reddevil :smash:
The CFI intake was designed for a 305 & is very restrictive. Monty (82) has said he figures the fuel sys. is good for 300 hp. If that is enough...
I have rec. using a 2 carb intake w/ the inj. though this did not go over well in C3 where in general CFI guys would rather do anything except replace the intake  ...
If your F.I. is bad, any normally used carb intake is better.
You recommended replacing the intake w/ a general 2x 4bbl crossram?? If you're claiming it's your idea , I call BS on that.
The 4bbl crossrams are a good idea, crossfire people tend to wanting to stick to crossrams so there's the Edelbrock STR-10, SY-1 (both disc) and Offenhasuer Cross-Ram, GM crossram replica. They all flow enogh for over 400Hp. The Offy flows more than a Super Ram (don't forget, it's awet intake so the flow #'s should be corrected), the SY-1 is the manifold w/ the highest perf. potential.
If you go that route it's either 2 4bbl carbs or you can maintain the stock throttle bodies, enlarge them (sleeving needed and throttle plates -> braswell) and modify the fuel/ignition and you can have a real fire breathing monster.
The only way to change everything in my humble thoughts is to leave it alone and buy a newer vette.....I have a modified system on my '84....works fine...no drag killer, but good performance just by reworking and adding some other parts.....
Up to you if you have the time and the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...
Good Luck

YOu may remember me from the Crossfire forum, but with an Offy, will the higher flow sortof kill the low end TQ? Or will the long runner length make up for that? Also, if you wanted 400HP from a CFI, then how would you go about making the TBI's to handle that much? Thats about twice as much as stock. So Would it be best to go with 95+Lb injectors and a high flow fuel pump?
You will lose some low end with the offy. You'd better have some nice compression, very good head, exhausst.. yadda yadda to compliment the offy. Slapping it on the not flowing stock heads means you will loose torque and not gain a lot of HP. Not only the intake is a restriction the heads are **** poor too.
The TB's can easily be overbored and sleeved, throttle plates are available in many sized fom Braswell.
95# injectors? IT kind of depends on the total package what you need. You can wing it a lot by bumping up the fuel pressure, or even beter get an VAFPR (like TPI has) so you maintain a nice idle (low FP) and the pressure starts climbing when you need it.
Vacuum-referenced Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, basically a fuel pressure regulator w/ a set screw (the adjustable part) and a vacuum tube (the referenced part), low rpm > high engine vacuum (err. pressure lower than athmospheric) > "vacuum" pulls on diaphragm and lowers pressure. Full rpm > pressure = athmospheric -> no "assist" > pressure will be at max (spring pressure, dependant on set screw) http://www.braswell.com/
