Default HELP!!!

It's me again guys, I know I've been talking about the '92+ LT-1 alot, and how I was gonna install it in the vette this summer, but I've run in to some difficulties, you see, my glass top has developed a large crack, and it leaks when it rains, and my visors need to be reupholstered, and all of the symbols on the console and dash have worn away after twenty years, and my shfter boot has dry rotted, and the drivers side seat has a small hole in it. I know that sounds like alot of things wrong woth a car, but, I can actually live with most of it, I just thought, that, maybe I've thought of a cheaper way to pull some power out of my engine. I have $1500 I'd like to invest in the engine at this time, and I have a Holley 650cfm carb and intake in perfect condition in the garage, so I was wondering if I could just throw away this cross fire, wiring and computer, and slam a carb on top. But I've also thought of a few possible downsides, will it pass emmissions (I don't have that bad of a problem usually with getting it inspected, all they usually do is check the windshield wipers, headlights, turn siginals, and horn) but I'm afraid in about ten years or less that it is going to become like california, also, about the fuel pump, with a carb I'm told that you only need 7-8 lbs of fuel pressure, and the cross fire pump flows 9 or 10, and I'm not sure if my mpg gauge etc. will work if I put a carb on it. Also I've heard someone say something about I'll have to do something with the thottle cable? Also, will my hood still close with a carb on top? And could you tell me anything else you think I'll need to know to do it, PLEASE? One last thing, I'm gonna just name a setup, could you guys give me a guess on about how much horsepower my car will make with it, a Holley 650 cfm carb and Holley intake, a big cam with no lope (any reccomendations would be appreciated, with the exclusion of any crane cams.), some trick flow heads, perhaps some trick flow pistons to, some good valves, some hedman hedders, flowmaster exhaust, and a high flow cat. What do you think?

Man, I don't know much about carbureted setups (that's my brother's expertise), but I can tell you one thing. If you don't fix that leaking top, your list of "things that need fixing" is going to get longer. I'd fix that first, however cheaply you can, before you start on the engine. Now, if it's just going to sit in the garage or under a cover and only be driven at the track on the weekends, then ignore me, but for a driver, water leaks will destroy your interior very quickly if they are not adressed. Maybe it's just me, but I don't care how fast the car is, if I'm sitting on molded seats and carpet, then I'm not going to be a happy camper :U

Good luck with your project

Yeah dude I know, thats the reason why I try to only drive it when its nice out, otherwise it sits in the garage with a cover on it. Anyway, whenever anyone gets the time, just let me know about my carb conversion idea.

P.S. I've got to have the speed or even if I'm sitting in seats that feels like a pillow, and the interior smells new I'm not gonna be a happy camper.

Alright guys, I filled the crack in the roof with a little silicone, and my visors are to be reupholstered next week, I also plan on ordering my shifter boot next week as well. Now, I still need help with that carb. conversion, so I'm still open for suggestions. One more thing, how can I delete the smog pump on my '84, and still have a pulley for the belt to wrap around? Just let me know. Thanks.
