Blown 25 amp A/C fuse
The 25 amp fuse feeding the a/c compressor clutch on my 1989 corvette coupe has blown twice. Once while I was driving with the a/c on (engine warm) and once when the a/c was just turned on (engine was cold). I've checked the resistance on the clutch coil and got a reading between 4 and 5 ohms, the manuel says the reading should be 3.6 ohms. I just installed a new blower control module, so that's not the problem. Does anyone have any solutions or troubleshooting tips I can use to help solve this problem?

Check the fuse clips for good spring tension and bright/clean so that there isn't a resistance connection which causes so much heat it melts the fuse. Replace the fuse with your ammeter and measure the current the clutch is drawing.

I had the same problem. Check the wiring harness going to the A/C clutch. On my 93, the wire coating had gotten hard and cracked off. The bare wire was then grounding against the compressor and shorting it out. All it took was some liquid electrical tape and the problem was solved. Of course, the dealership couldn't figure that out. They couldn't find the problem. :flag God Bless Dealerships...LOL!!
