I just installed a new radio/cassette/cd player in my 85 vette. It works great but there's a slight whistling sound in the speakers when I am driving the car. It increases and decreases with changes in acceleration. Any suggestions???
Could be a bad ground, or exposed wire somewhere between the radio and the antenna..
or.
Could be your ignition wires are old and causing EM interference..
I had a few times in the past years, and after swapping ignition wires, the noise went away...
It could be worse....you could have speaker sounds in your engine..... :D
Seriously....it sounds like alternator noise. Check for solid connections at all harnesses and make sure the stereo has a good ground connection. Any car audio shop or Radio Shack will sell an assortment of noise suppression stuff.
