Toledo Pro and Vanacor are the only one's that I know of that make a cowl hood for the C4. I like the looks of the Toledo Pro hood better. Don't know about how much temp drop you can expect. Both are pricey in the $1200.00 + range, plus then you have to have them painted to match your car.
Maybe you could tell us what you want to do.
If a cooler running engine is your goal, there are cheaper/better ways to go about it. It's not necessary to have a cowl induction hood to have a cool running engine. My engine runs at about 149F on the freeway and 180F around town with the stock hood. Seldom do the fans come on in normal driving.

(WAIT FOR THE SITE TO LOAD, LOOK UNDER HOOD SCOOP)
you don,t need to spend that much, look at the hood scoop above, it costs about $250 plus install and paint, youll most likely spend an easy $500 plus but thats less than the $1000 plus your talking about. its easy to modify for a ram air feed of cooling air to the engine compartment, and no theres not a huge drop in engine temp. under hood temps yes because at almost any speed the constant flow of cool air over the upper engine and out the gill slits and below the headers absorbs and removes some heat, bbut not engine temps. even with the cool air feed, and there would be even less with only the back cowl area open like on most cowl induction style scoops
The engine is not running to hot(170-180 highway 180 -200 town). It's the engine compartment itself.I am running a 383 with tpis headers(carb). The 2in /14in air cleaner just clears the hood(tight)I am looking for better air flow and decreased air temp under the hood(the oil breather seals get very hot/tend to leak.)I am running a 180t-stat,high flow pump, large rad,1.5 diam hoses(evans system). Does anyone have the system that corvette america used to sell (side mounted fans, by a- arms?)Thanks for the help .Also hood is getting very hot by air cleaner, afraid it is going to damage my paint! :chevy
Are your headers coated?Jet-coat claims their coating lowers under hood temps dramaticly. They show a running engine with a temp gun reading the headers at 200 degrees. :chevy
I had my cowl induction hood made, lots of work and no one makes a decent cowl induction that looks good on the Corvette. I wanted the factory groove in the center, not the small peak that was modeled from a '67 Camaro. If you have the sigs on you'll see it...
HWoods,
I love the attitude your vette has.....what did you do to lower the front end????
Is it the wheels/tire combination or what...please let me know....
I just love the way your vette sits.....

Just a foot note...all '84 hoods have cold air induction.....you can make it better by cutting the radiator shroud...and installing weatherstripping....to make a good seal.....check it out on the CrossFire Forum......forgot the URL...but someone must have it for you....
and believe me this mod really WORKS......................

:smash:
Yes they are ceramic coated but you can notice that your feet are alot toaster than the stockheaders(1984) :chevy
The jet hot coating will not cure this problem one thing that helped a lot was the header wrap it made a huge difference in my car but increased air flow will help also.
i have the vanacor hood on mine and my underhood temp went down about 30-40 degrees only paid $900 for mine at carlisle if you get them at a large corvette show you will save a lot
