We're Tired!
Yesterday (Sunday) did some major mods. Here is a list of the items that were done. I think we are a little freakin crazy to do this all in one day, but we did it!
1. Corky and I ripped his broken front spring out of his car. And replaced it with a new one. Raised the front of the car up ~3-4 inches. Let me tell you that is not an easy or straight forward job. Took both of us wrestling that things around to get it out, then get the new one in.
2. While I was tearing the old one out, Corky went back and forth from the spring, when I needed another man, to Dad's 67 Chevelle to give him assistance. There they took the entire rear assembly out and fitted the Chevelle with new Strange Axles with C-Clip eliminators. This required the rear axle housing to be shortened about 3 inches on either side.
They also changed Dad's rear gear from 3.90 (way too steep for that powerful of an engine) to 3.55s.
Now that is alot of work if you did either of these mods to a car, but did we stop there? Hell no! As soon as I got the Front spring on Corky's car buttoned up, I started pulling is tranny, we needed to put in his new converter! I ripped the tranny out while they set up the rest of the rear. Once we got it down out, we loaded the new converter with fluid and carefully installed the new converter on the tranny. Now keep in mind, this means the entire exhaust had to come off, C-beam, driveshaft, TC bolts, etc etc.
3. Before putting the tranny in the car, I went inside Corky's car and took apart the entire inside consoul removed his old shifter cable, that just gave me problems and fished his new one through. Put all that back together and then went back down to the uinderside to put the tranny back in.
4. Corky changed the fluid in the tranny and put a new filter back in.
5. Then he changed the fuel filter
We started at ~8am and put the final bolts in the tranny at about 10:30pm. With only one break at about 3pm for pizza and pop. We were like a bunch of army ants.
As Corky was putting the last and final bolt in the exhaust, I had relinquished my tranny duties to him just about 10 minutes before to start the massive cleanup effort that needed to be done! Tool everywhere, tranny fluid splashed kicked/tracked throughout the dealership. It looked like a tornado when through MAC tool's warehouse :cry Anyways as I played janitor I swept past Corky was he was bolting up the exhaust. I said did you remember the Detent cable? Ahhhhhh F%^&. Down came the exhaust again :D Got that hooked up and we were talking the best route for Corky to take home ~3 hr drive back to Pittsbugh  I said well you don't want to go 28, its too windy and towing is not that fun on that road. He's better off going 80 to 79. Just then he got a poopiety look on his face, he said Dude remember I told you I have to change my brakes on my Suburban before I head back, the front brakes started scraping on the way up   So I ran outside, jumped in the Burban and pulled it into another stall.
6. Now at ~11pm we start a major overhaul of the front brakes. new Rotor and pads for the burban. It was almost comical at this point. Got the brakes done and then took his car for a ride to make sure everything was OK. Perfect.
So there you have the Sunday garage day from hell. I was about at stiff as a board this morning getting out of bed this morning.
Sorry there were no pictures this weekend. There was no time for cameras, and no clean hands to handle one :D

I love working with others that know what they're doing! I didn't have as much fun as you, but I helped a friend of mine drop an engine into his car Saturday. No, it wasn't a Vette, but practice is practice. We started at ~9 in the morning and cranked her over at 5:30. Not bad considering we only had the long block on the stand when I got there.
Great job!!! Now, go to bed for three days and call us Thursday!
I hope you dont do this every sunday because if you do you will be single again soon...lol
Have you gone to the track again?

Haven't got to the track yet. Its been raining here for the past two weeks  And last weekend I have a bachelors party for an old PSU wrestling buddy. Next weekend after next is the wedding, so this coming weekend is my last chance to get out this month. Sucks!
Its only work if you don't like doing it
Tonight I will be out there again figuring out how to put an electric pump on Dad's chevelle and still route the belt. :lurk:
My wife asked me just the other day. "Can you do anyting in moderation?"
ANS: NOPE! ;)

btw, i'll email you about the mezeire pump for our cars. Short answer is they couldn't figure it out :nonod: But between us we should be able to figure something out.
I could do all that when I was 25.
Like some of the other folks said, an oil change takes me ALL weekend.
Water pump is now a TWO WEEK job.
Spark plug change...ALL day.
Darn near takes me an hour to set the tire pressure in all four tires.....
