For my 93, DTC-41 is "Cylinder select error". Manual suggests checking PROM to ensure the locking tabs are secure. I wouldn't know if they are different or not between 93 and 94, but I have a DTC-42 code now which is an Ignition Control Timing Circuit problem. Read a couple of posts down for the advice I have received.
I fought a code 41 last summer for way too long in my 93. GM manual gives a good troubleshooting flow. I followed it exactly and determined it was a bad IC module.
Bought a new one from NAPA, put it in and ... code 41 still there!
Did more troubleshooting- checked grounds, continuity from ECM to IC module,- finally replaced ECM and still no luck.
Bought a new multimeter and started from the top again and once again the result was a faulty IC module! But I had a new module with zero miles on it. WTF!
I decided to buy a new AC/Delco IC module from PartsAmerica.com. The brown truck delivered it , in it went and ... VRROOMM! Started right up and has run perfect everyday since.
I guess I'll stick with parts from the General.
The AC/Delco web site says your IC module for a 94 is part number D1986A.
Goes for $74.99 at PartsAmerica but shop around.
Also, code 41 and 42 seeem to have the same fix per the GM manual.

Where did you get your multi-meter? I think I am going to follow your lead and attempt to track down my problem using the manual. I also like the idea that I might be able to get on the road again without putting in a new Opti-spark. How many miles on your 93?
