Default AFR head users (especially 210 + cc) step in please

Do your AFR's have provisions for the coolant temp sensors?
My new 210's don't:skep:. The one that the stock 113 castings has between #6 and #8 cyl's is the one I wonder what to do about. Where should I now install that sensor?

You have to special order temp sensor holes. If mine ever show up I'll let you know where they are so you can drill and tap.
Or call AFR 818 890 0616.

true they will put the holes in for you, but you have to tell them you want them.
you can put them in your self (drill and pipe tap) but you need to be carefull not to go too deep with the tap. since the drill and pipe tap are kinda big for the old home drill you may want to take them to a machine shop and have them do it (take a sensor for them to test fit).
as far as where to locate the hole I used a header gasket (it should have a notch around the sensor area) and layed it out for clearance to the sensor.
just make sure your headers notch is as big (if not then compensate).

Thanx you two.
I would call, but it's the weekend and I was too busy at work.
Well the heads are on the car and I assumed AFR woulda put them in
But I will see if the job can be done with them installed.
Thanx for the tip
btw Eric, it took about 8 weeks for AFR to do my heads. Apperantly they lost some of their top machinists and they are a little behind.

8 weeks, interesting, I'm pretty sure they told me 4 and I know it was more like 8.

Anyway, 210cc "vette plug" heads here, came with holes for temp sensors. If you told them your application, then the holes should have been drilled there. The rep I spoke with never asked me if I wanted to add/delete them. Makes no sense to delete them without a special request to do so.

As said before, give'm a call Monday, very curious as to what they say

Ski
I don't recall the guys name but I ordered part #1053. I asked a bunch of Vette head specific questions, so I assumed he knew he was dealing with a Vette. My fault for not being extremely specific. I guess I am just gonna run them as is.

Paul,
Same part # here and no mention on the invoice of any sensor hole options. However, all other options are listed. I honestly believe they forgot to drill yours. One of the sensors goes to your gauge the other to the fan relay (in 85 anyway). Imagine starting up your fresh rebuild with no idea what the coolant temp is (although you could find it using a DVOM).

You HAVE to call them and I would recommend taking the heads off before you go any further.

I was thinking of rigging something up such as where the knock sensor goes, but on the driver's side of the block. I have a plug in that boss currently. I removed the oil cooler. I figure the canton 7qt. pan will cool it down enough.
I guess I can call Monday to put it past them, but doubt they will want to do anything about it.
I am just about ready to fire up after a couple of months of being down. I'd like to just get it going finally.
You think maybe they will find something fishy on those things?
