My car is still having problems starting when hot...
Ya know.. We've had our first two hot days here since I got my car back from Corvettes Unlimited.. They said the injectors are fine. BUT - my car still has trouble starting when it's hot.
The started engages with no problem, but it turns over for awhile before it "ignites". What could be the problem? I get a nice BIG puff of white smoke when it eventually starts...
When cold, it starts instantly.. No problem at all...
Oh, let me throw in one other question. Occasionally - I smell antifreeze... Why occasionally?
Thanks...

It's an 87 , right ?
Did they replace the cold start injector ? It could be leaking and causing a hot start issue, I had this happen on my old Irocz.

I think Vic is right; you might have a problem with the 9th injector or it's control circuit (it isn't controlled by the ECM).
Also you could put a fuel pressure gauge onto the Schraeder to check leakdown rate.
If you smell coolant occasionally it's getting out somewhere. Check under the wate pump and around the lower hoses. But that "big puff of white smoke" doean't sound good. You may need to do a radiator check to see if there is excessive pressure buildup with the engine running. Or it could be due to coolant leakage into the valley.

Join the friggin' club dude!
Ever since the DFI went in, my car starts hot like a bag of sheeot!
I am just dealing with it for now. Cold starts are amazing. It's just a matter of tuning.

Sal, I am having the exact same problem with my '87. It roars to life when cold but is really difficult to start when hot. Sometimes it stalls and idles poorly when hot also. I am going to check the ignition module and the IAC. Hopefully I will have time this week. I will report back here with the results.

It sounds like its flooding. Most likely still injector leakage. But since they serviced the others, it has to be this one.
I think I recall on your invoice they charged you $20 for a cold start injector oring, but didn't change the injector itself. They may have checked it though, if they removed it. TLD has it listed for $40 BTW.

They supposably checked my injectors - but I don't know.. If I hold the gas pedal all the way down, it'll start right up... Otherwise, I have a problem when it's hot...
Mine floods hot but starts good cold,I smell fuel on hot restart, but have no smoke,if you have MAF that could be your problem as they always fail more or are irratic hot,at least thats the way it was when I was at the dealership, they always said if its black its bad
