I'd stay with the ZF to avoid any hassles. If your going out to raise hell with it you can always purchase a beefed up ZF from ZF Doctors or Kurt White Racing Products. However the stock ones seem to hold up well in modded ZR1's. 84 CF 91 ZR-1
ZF... I have read that the Richmond's are not as nearly as well built.

I think it was a thread just like this. Whomever said it was rather specific... Things like the gears are not as cleanly cast... nor are they cleaned as well, the bearings are so-so... things like that.
For the price of a Richmond, one can have a ZF rebuilt to a high standard. Thats what would keep me using the ZF...
