Default Horn problems

Alright. About a year ago my horn suddenly started blaring as my car was parked. Thankfully I was outside - all I did was pull off the horn button on the steering wheel and that fixed the problem. After that I just drove around with the horn button in place but never put the wire back so the horn couldn't be activated. Today, however, I encountered the same problem, only this time removing the horn button wouldn't work. I disconnected the battery, then disconnected the wires running to the horns. I guess there's two? I made it home okay; any ideas on how to begin solving this problem? Where should I start? It would be nice to have a functional horn...plus I can't pass an inspection without it. Thank you for your help.

Unplug the connectors from the horn brush on either side of the steering wheel under the left IP.

This will tell you which wire is shorted; if it still honks unplug the connector to the theft deterent module under the right IP near the fuse block; if it still honks suspect the relay behind the center IP.

Where is that darn horn relay? I have looked near and far for it!

I had a similar problem on my '92. The horns suddenly came on while I was driving. The problem turned out to be a broken turn signal cancelling cam. There's a large spring on the horn contact, and the spring is held down by a small part of the turn signal cancelling cam. When the small piece of plastic breaks, the spring and wire come lose and can short out, causing the horns to activate. On my '92, the problem was relatively easy to see. You just have to remove the airbag in the center of the steering wheel and look for a lose thick yellow wire with a spring on the end.
