O.K., I have already changed the altanator, checked the battery, and I put a new starter in yesterday, the old starter silinoid was cracked. I was told that there maybe a short in the system somewhere. I don't even know were to start. Has anyone else had this problem? I just turn the key and nothing. Any ideas? What is that little cube with all the red wires connected to it, located behind the battery? I here that click when I turn on the key but, nothing happens after that.

Re: Help, car won't turn over (86VETTEMAN)
James, I had that happen to me after re-installing my injectors...when I was attached the drivers side runner, I accidentally pinched one of the tach wires :banghead: It took me days to figure that one out!! You definately have a short somewhere...trace back all your wiring connections and make sure one isn't pinched some where...hope this helps...
Thanks for the advice. I hope it is something simple like that. It took me 4 hours just to replace the starter yesterday. We had to do it in the parking lot. What a pain. Thanks again. Anybody else have their $.02? All ideas welcome.
Is there power to everything when you turn on the key? If everything comes on and seems normal but the motor won't crank you could have a problems in your VATS . If so check to see if your chip on your key is worn out. This is just one possible thing, just giving you an idea. Good luck.
I don't hear any clicking when it's my VATS acting a fool. Sounds like a wire connection problem. Chevy has the machine that reads the resistance on your pellet. They cut a new key with the pellet to match.
Check fuses. This happend to me last year. Turned out to be the dash cluster fuse. I had pinched a wire while under the dash and it took awhile to wear through and short. If you have a blown fuse, check that circuit for grounds.
Well all, it wasn't my key and all my fuses checked out ok. I am going to try the Vats bypass kit from MADVET or Ecklers and see if it cures the problem. If not I am going to have to chace down a short somewhere. All other ideas still welcome.
