I'm posting this for a good buddy of mine who is a new user, but cannot post yet since computer is down...his handle is "96-C4U2NV".
He has owned this CE-Vette for the past 5 years and the car is still completely stock. Right now as I type this we are in BG at the Cruise Inn...we have come up with some good places to start, but are looking for some good advice from the numerous knowlegable members in the C4 sections.
He has initially $1,000 to spend and would like some input on where would be the best place to invest this on his car. Want to keep the uniqueness of the car, so not looking at the body or suspension yet. Mostly interested in acceleration from 0-60 to improve, but he has no interest in running blistering 1/4 mile times.
Re: 96 CE - Performance Upgrade Suggestions.... (vader86)
He can do exhaust-Hooker headers or Catback, headers would give the most gain right now ~15hp
Best thing he can do is the LT4 Hotcam kit.
Thats kinda what we were thinking, however dosen't really want to tear into the motor just yet....BTW he has an A4, what do you think about a rear end swap? Anyone else out there have some information on this option?

Since the main thing you are after is 0-60 times, your best bang for the buck would be rear end gears. You have auto but you don't say if it is the 2.59 or 3.07, but especially if you have 2.59 you will get SOP gain. Torque converter would be next, but I don't think you could do both for under $1000.
Bolt ons like cat-back exhaust, air intake, etc. are all good but not best bang for buck in 0-60 times.

People mod collectors editions? :lolg:
Best bang for the buck assuming the car has 3.07 gear is a quality, higher stall, lockup torque converter. And all the free mods of course with a K&N and open lid, and a fresh tuneup.
