My 95 LT1 is running terrible. It has 187K on it and I just finished changing both the radiator and the fuel pump.
It seams to be running way rich (black smoke out the tailpipe and you can't hardly breath in the garage) WHen the fans come on the check engine light also comes on. When the fans go off, so does the check engine light.
Car just ain't running right and has no guts. IT has been in the garage since January due to my travel schedule and to get it back on the road is the goal.
Any chance any of ya'll have gone throught this before?
I don't know how to pull the code. Will the code remain when the light goes off?
Yes, it is sometimes called a "soft code" as the light turns off rather than remaining on. However, the code is still stored in the memory. You have a OBDII system. I think if you do a search on the codes, you will probably find a bunch of tips on how to retreave it and what the code means. My system is an OBDI so I don't want to mislead you. Maybe someone will jump in here with the info but I think a search will produce faster results.
I can't help with the meaning of the codes....maybe you should try a fresh post with the codes in the topic....? At least with the codes, you will have a starting point to fix the problem(s) :) BTW.. (, no disrespect, )I strongly suggest you buy the Helms manuals for the car.....as you would have been well on your way to having it fixed by now.
