X-pipe - how much additional resonance?
I am seriously considering cutting out the stock resonator on the LT-4 (already replaced mufflers with Magnaflows) and putting in an X-pipe. I used a Dr. Gas in my old Nova and it really picked the car up.
My concern with the vette is the dreaded "R" word - resonance.
Re: X-pipe - how much additional resonance? (LT-4 CE)
I was running straight pipes with magna-flows and added an x-pipe.....It is awsome....My freind said to paint the pipes and where the pipes stop burning paint add the X....we did this it is a lot more quite with tons of power......I believe everything anyone say about power gains....the "R" is not that bad but is really personal......I would recomend the set-up to anyone....

If you have the OEM exhaust, except your Magnaflows, I would keep the H-pipe and replace the resonator with an x-pipe. This is just speculation, but it is a system that intriques me.
I reduced the resonance of my B&B by adding an H-pipe in back of the resonator. 4.10 gears also help a little by pushing up the rpms.

Re: X-pipe - how much additional resonance? (LT4BUD)
Thanks for the replies.
LT4BUD,
I do not have any concerns with the resonance now (just a touch in 6th gear under 6- mph). But I never drive like that anyway, under 65 is 5th gear.
I am intrigued as well since the factory h-pipe has to help a bit. My thought is as you said, just replacing the resonator with an X.
I guess it will help a bit, just don't want to gain a bunch of resonance and a tiny bit of rwhp. I'll likely do it. If I don't like it, I can always but the resonator back.
This whole thing is about getting in the 12s without N2O!
Re: X-pipe - how much additional resonance? (LT-4 CE)
Based on your comments in an earlier post about wheelspin, it would seem that some stickier tires and you would get into the 12's.
Also the x-pipe should reduce weight by maybe 10 or so pounds, not much but every little bit helps.
I also pulled the honeycomb screen from the MAF. Others have done this, but I have never seen a before/after dyno. Seems like I saw this in a magazine a couple years ago and they talked 5-10hp. Just be careful not to damage the sensor if you do this.
Good luck on getting into the 12's, I think on a cool night with a good launch that you are there!!

Re: X-pipe - how much additional resonance? (LT4BUD)
I hope so. I really should focus on launching the car and see where I am really at. The mph is indicative of a 12 second run.
It's find of funny. I sold out of my drag racing operation to get something just to drive and enjoy cruising, but my desire to go faster must still be there!
Have you ever had your on the track? I see you are from Hinkley, that must be within 45 minutes of Dragway 42?
