Default Air pump eliminator

Where would you go to get an air pump eliminator kit? I want to get rid of as much emmisions crap as I can. I cant even get to one of my spark plugs cause there is so much useless crap...

Mid America or Ecklers should have it.

I got mine from ZIP... a forum supporter. It will clean up your engine compartment, but it won't make a big difference in power.

I am not really concerned with the power. My engine is crapping out so I can't run it hard anyways. Whats bugging me is one of the metal pipes is rubbing against some other crap when I drive and its making a bunch of noise. It is also blocking access to a spark plug on the front left.

How much of the air injection and emmisions stuff will I be able to remove without messing up my engine? I dont want to remove something and have my ingine not run properly.

Hopefully The air pump is my next project , When you delete the air pump you can take of the pipes from the exhoust manifolds and block the holes , you can take off that valve that is near the A/C compressor ( Black box with bunch of pipes hooked to it ) and you can take off that pipe that goes to the main Cat , but make shure you block any holes because exhaust will come out of them !!! if you take off all the things that I listed your engine compartment will look much much better

It wont harm anything. All the AIR really does is inject air into the exhaust helping the cats get warmed up faster for emissions. Under full throttle it doesnt do anything.

This what I did...man my plugs are easy to get to now!! Usually the air pump eliminator kits give you rubber caps to attach to the a.i.r pipes on the exhaust manifold but I took everything off the engine in front and all the air plumbings.I used 1/2 threaded steel pipe caps bought from lowes and capped off the manifold air pipes instead.Just add a little antiseize to the threads and use a Vise grip to tighten them down there. My next project is to cut the air pipes off the exhaust manifolds and egt the holes welded. Then there will be nothing in the way more so!

On my 86,theres a solenoid that is on the a/c compressor and I left that one one there with the vacuum lines hooked up coming from the intake and the harness plugged in.The air pump side,I just deleted all that stuff and tied the wire harness out of the way.Since one vacuum line was now open on the solenoid on top of the a/c compressor,I simply capped it off with a rubber vacuum cap.Had no problems whatsoever.Hardest part of the job is taking the air pipes off the front of the engine and the down pipe that runs to the cat. converter. Not difficult, just got to move stuff out of the way to get them out.Once theyre out,the engine bay looks soo much better!!

:)

There is an alternative. This is what I did - disassemble the AIR pump, and knock out the internal impeller vanes. It takes a little patience and time. Then re-assemble the pump, and you have a free spinning device, that still looks stock. You are then free to remove the solenoid, and cat pipe(s) and manifold pipes (you can either cap them or leave them open as they are a one-way valve). By the way, someone mentioned that you won't notice much power - I guess that is a relative opinion. I believe that 10 to 20 horsepower is worth it, and when you understand how it works, and you feel the resistance - seems logical to me.
