saw a white late model C4 today with the badging "ZO7" on each side of the hood/fender. also had "ZO7/5.7" on the back badge. anybody know what this is? i know that Z51 is a suspension option but i have never heard of ZO7.
I have a ZO7 suspension performance package. About 3.5% of '95s have the option, it was priced about $2,000 off the show room floor. My sig has the RPO codes which comprise the package and description of each. I have not seen badges for the option, but would like to know more about that,
Z07's has a very stiff ride, great handling and feel for the road, but any kind of bumps are way harsh. They have great launch characteristics.
Buddies who have diven/ridden my car have either been very complimentary or hate it. Conversley, when I ride with them or test drive new C5's they seem sloopy and mushy by comparison.
Also, Z07's have a sliglhtly higer stance and space between the tire and fender, that's why I lowered mine slightly.
If you can get to one you may want to do a test drive comparison, they are not for every one. I really like mine  .
When I was looking for another c4 to buy I was really wanting a z07. My vette is not my daily driver so I was not worried of the stiffer suspension. They make the best cars to modify short of a 96 lt-4.
By the way I believe the z07 badges along with the lt1 and lt4 badges are aftermarket found in the vette catalogs. Now the zr1 badges we all know were factory. :steering:
Z07 was the high-performance suspension option from 1991 to 1995. It was a combination of the Z52 springs, shocks, and swaybars, and the FX3 selective ride control, and the J55 heavy-duty brake package. It was a $2,045 option!
In 1996, they went back to a (non-FX3, non-F45) Z51 package.
All in all, I'd say that Z07 is NOT as desirable as a straight Z51 or Z52 package, because the FX3 components are another expensive system that might go on the fritz.
Personally, knowing what I know now, I'd rather buy a '91-'95 car with FE1 suspension and upgrade it with Z51 components, rather than get a Z07 car. But that's just me - others love the selective ride control!
The Z07 cars come with stiffer springs (though not as stiff as the Z51 cars), stiffer bushings, bigger solid swaybars (30mm/26mm), the J55 calipers w/13" rotors and the adjustable FX3 shocks. If you have your FX3 shocks revalved to the Moracca revalving along with the controller prom having custom chip(s), you can setup your suspension any way you want to.
I like mine alot and like the versatility. There are certainly other options but this is a good place to start...
