Since 2149s come coated, how do you calculate the "premium"? There isn't anything to compare them to. If you can live without the smog fittings, go for the 2151s. They're the same header, less smog fittings and they come, painted. 2151-1 is the coated 2151. Can you get them coated cheaper? Or are you just getting a cheap coating? Good luck, and...

I calculate the premium by comparing 2151's to 2151-1's. Same header minus coating, 200 bucks difference. And I want to keep the smog hookups so my car at least looks legal.

And you can get a quality coating for??? I think I paid about $265.00 to have my 2151, like headers coated by HTP, inside and out. They damn near look like they're chromed.

Hey I have the perfect solution for you. I have TPIS headers with smog stuff on them. They are coated, but they have been driven on quite a bit now. Get the 2151s non-coated, have your buddy coat them and I'll trade you my TPIS headers w/ smog for the coated 2151s. Reason isnt actually the smog stuff, even though I dont use them. It is because the TPIS headers have plug boot clearance issues with my straight angle iron heads. With these headers, Im forced to run Accel Header plugs. With different headers, I can run the NGKs instead. Anyhow, just tossing out an idea. Good luck!
