Has anyone relocated the battery to the rear of the car? I am considering doing this for weight distribution. I need to know if I can use the stock battery and what needs to be done.
I autocross. My car is not at 50/50. I can't remember the exact distribution since I last weighed it a year ago. Optimal handling has more weight to the rear. 50/50 is actually a myth. I think optimal is 42/58, if I remember correctly.
You can relocate the battery to the right rear of the car attached to the rear side of the rearmost steel crossmember as far too the right as the gas lines will allow. You need a Stock Car Products 9-1/2" wide battery tray. You have to insert 1/4-20 rivnuts, 4 on the rear side of the beam and 2 on the front side. You have weld mounting brackets to the battery tray and bolt it to the rear cross member. Mine's been on for 5 years.
Mine's relocated to the right rear storage compartment...There are pics of my setup as well as another one on the Forum...Just do a search for "Battery Relocation" and you should come up with the thread...If not email me and I'll give you some details...
