I just purchased the 2149's with the front y-pipe. i've heard there are heat issuses with the tranny being so close to the exhaust. just need an opinion on an idea i had.
i want to wrap from the headers collector to where the y-pipe connects to the cat. i also want to paint it with hi-temp black paint to keep it clean.
good idea or no?

I wrapped my collectors on my 2151-1's close to the starter and tranny and # 3 plug and # 4 plug.
As far a the ceramic flaking off,,,, well the ceramic keeps heat in and the wrap keeps heat in and covers any spots that would happen to flake off.
So it looks cool to have the beautiful look of the coating but you gotta do what you gotta do. My car is so low you cant see anyting unless you lay on your face! :lolg:
I wonder if those who had problems had a poor coating job. I have had my headers wrapped for almost four years and recently I unwrapped part of them to see what it looked like and it looked like new. When I ruined a
$ 69.00 set of wires in less than a week and the heat coming into the cabin was like the heater was turned on the decision to wrap was easy for me. Even if I had to replace my headers every 5 years I would still wrap them.
One other thing that never is mentioned is the wrap will increase power out put. Decisions-- Decisions-- :banghead:
