Default boot around gas cap falling in?

I have a 96 vette (of course)... The black rubber cup/boot thing that the gas cap site in appears to be falling in (or has been pushed in). There is a gap between the underside of the deck and the rubber boot/cup. Has anyone else experienced this or even seen this? (unlike most topics, I cannot find any info by searching the site). It doesn't appear to be serious, but can someone help me out here? Much appreciated.

That's odd. The rubber part you are describing has some rubber "legs" molded to the bottom of it to hold it up tight to the body. It's easy enough to check out - just remove the four torx screws holding the fuel filler door assembly and take it off the car. Clean out the bottom of the rubber piece so you don't get anything in the tank when you take off the fuel cap and remove it. Once you have cleaned it out, remove the gas cap and pull the rubber boot up and off the car. See if the rubber legs are intact, maybe they just got folded under somehow.
