Been quite happy for 13 years with my '90. Probably the biggest negative is the lack of chassis stiffness, and all that goes with it - squeaks, rattles, groans, shakes, shutters, bucks, clunks, clicks, irks, twangs, buzzes, and twunks!
These cars were real good for their day, but like you said, lots of improvements in technology have been made in the last 15 years. I put in a new stereo in February, and it sounds awesome! It is so much clearer than the Blose.
I'm planning my mods to correct the things that can easily be improved. The camber brace sounds pretty interesting. Gears and a full exhaust redo would be good, too. Then there's the C5 front brake conversion, and I'd have to do something to the rear so they match and look nice.... :yesnod:
Once you get started on the mods, it's a slippery slope to the mod sickness...
Maybe I'm the only one, but I have 2.59's, and I haven't noticed any problems with them in daily driving. I'm sure on the track it would be another story...
When everything is working as designed or modified, there isn't any car I'd rather have. Even the Gold series Bose is great when it's working properly. I'd love to drive my Vette all over GB. When I was stationed at Fairford, we rode bicycles all over. I don't think we trusted each other driving on the wrong side of the road. But those back roads were nice.
I bought my '87 in New Jersey with 102K on the odo. I was working there at the time. Then, quit that job and drove out to CA (3000 miles). It's the only car I've even had that I could sit for 500 miles (what I was getting on a tank) without hurting my already injured back.
My complaints are: The front rotors warp first time you stand on the brakes, the front spoiler drags everywhere and there are no "cheap" parts for a Corvette.
