Default HEADERS FOR 96

I need to get long tubes for my 1996 LT4. Exotic muscles wont be avaialble for another month. I want to buy them now. I looked at rippies site and at 1k there over priced. Who else makes a good ceramic coated long tube? I wont be running cats for now but want to be able to hook them up to the long tubes later. Anybody got any good ideas for the Headers.

Thanks

I've heard TPIS headers are good. Hooker 2151's will work, but have no provisions for emissions. This stuff could be added, then have the headers coated...

BTW,,, how much $ for the Exotic Muscle headers coated????

Doug Rippie doesn't even stock them anymore...they usually send you over to Exotic Muscle. TPIS (www.tpis.com) is another good brand you may want to look into. However, I would wait for the Exotic Muscle ones, I got off the phone with Merle at EM yesterday and he said that they are making a couple slight changes to thier current LT's and one of the things they will be doing is changing the design so they hook up directly with cat-back systems...so it should get rid of the need to fabricate anything...plus he told me that the first 10 sets would be sold for 640$ coated...the regular price will be 740$ coated. I guess it depends on how quickly you want them.

Thats exactley what Trevor told me. He said if I prepaid it would be $641 for the long tube ceramic coated and would take A MINIMUM of 6 weeks. Have you looked at TPIS? Is there any particular reason you are waiting for the Exotic Muscles? Just curios.

Thanks for the reply! :yesnod:

Do you mean without the cats? Just to the point where a stock set (with cats), meets the normal cat back position? Another words, If I order a Corsa cat back system, it should bolt right up to the new long tube collector. And you won't have the cats. This is hard to put in words, but is this what the new design is supposed to do?

I actually have the TPIS headers on my car now, I did mine long before EM came out with their new design...that they are now updating. The TPIS headers are fine, just not quite as good and more expensive than the EM headers...and it took them about 5 weeks to get me mine.

I wasn't able to talk to Merle for long, but they way I understand it is that they are going to be shipping an extra flanged peice that you can use instead of cats to bolt up to your cat back system, such as a Corsa system. Give EM a call to get the specifics though just to make sure. 480 563 4222

Hey Zix,

Thanks, now if they would just design headers with cats in them so you don't have to change when inspection time rolls around. :yesnod:
