Default A neat little tip!!!

I did a compression check today and stumbled onto a clever tip, in my opinion. Naturally I had to pull all the plugs leaving the wires dangling. I went into the kitchen junk drawer for the masking tape to use in numbering the wires because I don't have those neat wire looms. I saw the wife's bag of wire twists and (are you ready) those thin square plastic bread and roll bag fasteners. You know the kind, about 3/4 square with a pinching slot cut in so you can force it on to the twisted bag end. Well I mark them 1 through 8 and slip them over the spark plug wires as I remove them from the plugs. No tape to remove, no wires to mark and hopefully no confusion. They're is now a set in my tool box. Not bad huh. Try um you'll like um......Frank

For about $4 you can go to Autozone (or some similar store) and pick up the little numbered plastic collars that go over the wires. Makes wire ID easy and looks pretty good as well.

Very good idea and it doesn't cost a cent. Usually, Corvette = $$$$$.

Couldn't you just do remove the wires one by one as you test each cylinder?

A proper compression test involves cranking with all the plugs removed and the throttle open.

What *I* want to know, is WHY did you have EIGHT of these on hand??? You must keep house, like *I* do.

Just a caution- always change the plugs by the "sell date" or your plugs will get moldy.
