Well I was running the car pretty car today. Nice weather and it was running like a champ. Then out of the blue a pretty noticab;a miss came about. Figured I'd check it in the morning. I was heading to a place to eat and was only about 100 yards from this place so didn't turn around. I finish eating then go back out and start the car. it starts but it's running really bad. THen stalls. Now it will not start at all. It appears as though I have no spark it is not even trying to start just turns over from the starter. Should I start with fuses? Any ideas? Note I checked all the wires and even dis the bat. replaceed the e-prom I burn my own thinkng it went bad. With no signs of bad parts does this sound like a internal engine problem? If so what could be the cause? I hear no strange or bad mosies coming from the engine. IT turns just fine and smooth with the starter turning it. :cry :( :banghead:
Assuming you have fuel in the tank, turn the key on for a copla seconds, remove the cap from the Schraeder valve on the fuel rail, place a towel over it and depress the plunger. If no fuel comes out I'd bet it's time for a new fuel pump. When my pump died it exhibited your symptoms.
If ok, pull a spark plug, lay it near the frame and crank the engine to see if it sparks.
If ok, see if you can find a MAF to replace yours for testing; one from a mid-80s F-body will also work on your L98. Though when my MAF went I could start the engine but it wouldn't stay running.
Well just as I thought last night NO spark. Turns out my rotor button decided to come loose and came to pieces inside the cap. This is not the first time this thing has come loose but I usally look the car over more offten just have not had time as of late. Is it normal for this rotor button to come loose so much/often? I've never read anything about needing locktite on the screws. Any info?
Hey Gene glad to see you are still around. I was going C5 but things have not gone my way as of late so.... PLus I think I will get in plenty of trouble with this new found power from my 383. This last chip has made a huge difference in power in the car. Enough that I can feel it big time. Keep up with a katana (bike) the other day. The guy pulled up after ans was like that's damn good for a car. How's your vette?
Glad to here the car's running good. As for mine, it's retired to street duties. I'm now playing with a supercharged truck. Car doesn't get driven much.
